Questo contributo esplora la forma e le sue relazioni con l’immagine, la parola, l’esperienza interiore. Il sistema nervoso gioca un ruolo fondamentale nel generare le forme, dato che le immagini che percepiamo sono costrutti creati dal nostro cervello basati sulle informazioni ricevute dai sensi. La complessità e l’organizzazione della materia, in particolare nel cervello e nel sistema nervoso, generando forme originano proprietà che trascendono la pura dimensione fisica. Contingenza e stabilità sono essenziali per l’emergere della forma, così la definizione della forma diventa irraggiungibile. La teoria della sostanza come materia-forma-privazione di Aristotele offre una prospettiva metafisica della forma come un’entità in costante evoluzione e trasformazione. La forma è mostruosa perché deforma sé stessa nel processo della propria definizione. L’artista Francis Bacon è un esempio di come deformità e accidente siano inerenti al processo creativo. Pittura figurativa e astrazione si incontrano nell’immagine, che è come un equilibrismo tra le due. La forma è un’esperienza soggettiva, dunque dipende dalla relazione dell’individuo con il suo ambiente, è immediata e muta costantemente.

This essay explores the form and its relationship with image, word and inner experience. The nervous system plays a fundamental role in generating forms, as the images we perceive are constructs created by our brain based on the information received from our senses. The complexity and organization of matter, in the brain and nervous system in particular, generating forms, originate properties that transcend the purely physical dimension. Contingency and stability are both essential for the emergence of form, so the definition of form becomes unattainable. Aristotle’s theory of substance as matter-form-privation gives a metaphysical perspective of form as an entity in constant evolution and transformation. Form is monstrous because it deforms itself in the process of its own definition. The artist Francis Bacon is an example of how deformity and accident are inherent in the creative process. Figurative painting and abstraction meet in the image, which is like a balancing act between the two. Form is a subjective experience, so it depends on the relationship of the individual with his environment, it is immediate and constantly changing.
