Il pensiero di Meister Eckhart ha esercitato un importante influsso su Cusano, il quale ha conosciuto direttamente molti dei suoi scritti. Nel 1444 Cusano commissionò la copia delle opere latine di Eckhart in un voluminoso manoscritto, il Codex 21 della sua biblioteca a Bernkastel-Kues, che studiò accuratamente, come attestano le numerose note a margine. Il manoscritto ha avuto grande importanza anche per la ricerca ekhartiana, in quanto è grazie ad esso che è stata conservata gran parte delle opere latine di Eckhart, che sarebbero altrimenti andate perdute. L’articolo illustra una serie di idee nelle quali è possibile riconoscere un’effettiva vicinanza tra il pensiero di Eckhart e quello di Cusano ed evidenzia i punti nei quali Cusano trasforma i temi che recepisce. La seconda parte dell’articolo esamina il rapporto tra il De filiatione Dei e i cosiddetti Sermoni eckhartiani di Cusano e il ciclo di sermoni tedeschi sul tema della nascita di Dio nell’anima di Eckhart. L’articolo mostra come Cusano abbia effettivamente letto e meditato questi testi eckhartiani, che hanno lasciato un segno profondo nel suo pensiero, anche se non sempre è giunto alle stesse conclusioni.

The thought of Meister Eckhart had an important influence on Cusanus, who knew directly many of his writings. We know that in 1444 Cusanus had ordered to copy Eckhart’s Latin works in a voluminous manuscript, the Codex 21 of his library in Bernkastel-Kues, which he studied carefully, as attested by the numerous marginal notes. Cusanus’s manuscript was also of great importance for Eckhartian research, as it is thanks to it that a large part of Eckhart’s Latin works have been preserved, which would otherwise have been lost. The article illustrates a series of ideas in which it is possible to recognize a real closeness between Eckhart’s thought and Cusanus and also highlights the points in which Cusanus transforms the themes he takes. The second part of the article examines the relationship between De filiatione Dei and the so-called “Eckhartian Sermons” of Cusanus and the cycle of German sermons dedicated by Eckhart to the theme of the birth of God in the soul. The article shows how Cusanus actually read and meditated on these Eckhartian texts, which left a deep mark on his thinking, although he did not always come to the same conclusions.
