Il contributo si propone di indagare le risonanze speculative del concetto di perichoresis (“ruotare intorno”, “girare intorno”), termine cui ricorre in maniera sistematica Giovanni Damasceno (De fide Orthodoxa), e con il quale è detta l’unione senza confusione della natura divina e umana del Cristo e al contempo la compresenza e dinamica interazione in atto nella relazione intratrinitaria. La sua ripresa nella scolastica medioevale mediante la figura della circuminsessio – “stare intorno”: come un “insistere” o una stasi che resta sospesa nel luogo stesso della relazione – e cirumincessio – “avanzare intorno”, il dinamico compenetrarsi delle persone divine – consente di cogliere ulteriormente come, attraverso la perichoresis, si acceda a uno dei nodi più problematici della dottrina trinitaria, nel centro stesso del suo mysterium. Nel luogo, cioè, in cui le stesse categorie dell’ontologia tradizionale sembrano dover necessariamente collassare l’una sull’altra.

The contribution aims to investigate the speculative resonances of the concept of perichoresis (“rotating around”, “turning around”), a term used systematically by John Damascus (De fide Orthodoxa), and which describes the union without confusion of the divine and human nature of Christ and at the same time the co-presence and dynamic interaction in the intra-Trinitarian relationship. Its revival in medieval scholasticism through the figure of circuminsessio – “staying around”: like an “insisting” or a stasis that remains suspended in the very place of the relationship – and cirumincessio – “advancing around”, the dynamic interpenetration of divine Persons – allows us to further understand how, through perichoresis, we access one of the most problematic cruxes of the Trinitarian doctrine, in the very center of its mysterium. That is, in the place where the very same categories of traditional ontology seem to necessarily have to collapse on top of each other.
