Abstract [Ita]
Il presente saggio si propone di indagare il ruolo svolto dai “fantasmi” e dai “mostri” nella costituzione di quel supporto fondamentale in tutte le pratiche di civiltà che caratterizzano la tradizione occidentale e che prende il nome di anima. Partendo da alcuni passi di Kant e Hegel, si affronterà poi il momento istitutivo dell’anima, all’interno di alcuni testi di Platone. L’anima risulta strettamente legata al problema logico e metafisico dell’identico in sé; in particolare Platone connette l’anima al tema dell’invisibile e della morte. Analizzando questi due fattori, sarà possibile vedere come dal rapporto con il cadavere sorga la differenza tra la cosa e il segno, così come la comunità dei parlanti che rendono la morte un sapere, dunque un contenuto di stampo sociale.

This essay aims to investigate the role played by “ghosts” and “monsters” in the constitution of that fundamental support in all the practices of civilisation that characterise the Western tradition and which we call the soul. Starting with some passages from Kant and Hegel, we will then address the constitutive moment of the soul within some of Plato’s texts. The soul is closely linked to the logical and metaphysical problem of the identical in itself; in particular, Plato connects the soul to the topic of the invisible and death. Analysing these two factors, it will be possible to see how from the relationship with the corpse arises the difference between the thing and the sign, just like the community of speakers who render death a piece of knowledge, thus a type of social content.
